OUR FAIR TOWN gets mentioned quite a lot in other publications – we thought we would bring you a few links to stories in the Hull Mail recently (you may have to put up with the occasional pop up Ads on the Mail website when you click the links):
Hedon British Legion is recognised as a “Club at the heart of town” in an article that recognises the skills of new(ish) Club Steward Martyn Shipstone, who as well as been an experienced bar-manager is also a seasoned entertainer. This picture, taken in January 2013 behind the Legion bar, is perhaps not as flattering as the one in the Mail!
The “New village hall in Paull” describes the opening of the new Paull Village Hall on Saturday 30th March and the community effort it took to realise the project. HU12 Online also covered the event. See: “Built for future generations!”
The Mail also carried the story “Tribute to our friend” about the launch of the Kerry Key Foundation which will raise money for four charities in memory of local Mum, Kerry, who sadly lost her battle with cancer recently. The new charity will be organising a fundraising Fancy Dress to launch the new charity at the Alexandra Hall on Friday 10th May 2013.
Veteran Mail Reporter Angus Young wrote this article about the “Row between Hull and East Riding Councillors” over the plans to build a factory on presumably the old Hedon Aerodrome site. HU12 Online covered the comments from Councillor Mike Bryan that prompted the Mail article: “Lack of consideration to local views.”
