Hedon Viewfinders Photography Club – Business meeting update
Summary of Hedon Viewfinders planning meeting (7th Jan) to prepare for 2026:

- 52-Week Photography Challenge and monthly print competitions have been launched as previously announced.
- Judging of Print Competitions: The club is to build up ‘constructive critique skills’ within its membership and encourage members to act as judges for the monthly competitions. As part of this course, every meeting at the Haven Arms, starting from Wednesday, 14 January, shall start with a short session to study two photographs; one a well-known image in the public realm, the other a member’s own. Each session will consider what makes a successful image. Guidance on giving constructive criticism is to be designed. Members will take turns bringing in the two images.
- Affinity 3 and editing training: Bring your laptops in next week, and we will ensure that everyone who wants to take part in the editing training has the necessary software installed. During the meeting, we shall hold a practice Zoom session.
- Editing an image – online challenge. We shall relaunch our online challenge (first done in 2021) to edit an unprocessed image using whatever tools/programs are available to you, and see what you can do with it. To start imminently.
- Preston Show – Open Photography Competition – Summer: Decisions to be taken at next week’s meeting (Wed 14th January) on this year’s format for the competition, and categories. Publicity and Promotion for the competition to start as soon as possible.
- Youth Competition: Competition format to be designed. Schools local to South West Holderness are to be encouraged to participate. Probably involves two competitions, one online and the other print, and for two age categories in each (11- 16, and under 11s). We have some funding and have already secured three prizes.
Next meeting Wednesday, January 14 at the Haven Arms, prompt start at 7.00pm – Bring your laptops.
