The annual Bridlington Kite Festival – a weekend of vibrant kites soaring high above Sewerby Fields in the seaside town – is set to return in September and visitors can now find out more about the weekend’s activities by visiting the brand-new web page.

The event will take place on Saturday, 11 and Sunday, 12 September 2021 from 10 am to 5 pm each day. The festival recently launched a new web page with visitors able to find fun facts and things to do, along with information on what’s happening at this year’s festival.

Despite the event being cancelled in 2020 due to COVID risks, and replaced with a highly successful virtual festival, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s events team, along with the Northern Kite Group, wanted to ensure the fun-filled weekend would be back in 2021 in its usual format. Next year it’s planned to hold the event in its traditional May slot.

Year-on-year a number of internationally renowned experts return to provide spectacular displays for hundreds of spectators over the weekend. As well as professional demonstrations, visitors can have their own chance to have a go with kites available for loan during supervised sessions.

Alongside this vast array of giant inflatable kites, visitors will find street food stalls, fairground rides and children’s entertainment – making it an action-packed, fun-filled festival for all the family.

“We really looking forward for some of the world’s largest inflatable kites to take to the skies, above the dramatic cliffs of the East Yorkshire coast this September, and that kites of all descriptions, sizes and colours take the air for two days of stunning aerial displays.

“Based on previous years’ festivals prior to the pandemic, this one promises to be the perfect family outing – bringing happy smiles to faces and a lot of memories to share.”

Councillor Jane Evison, portfolio holder for economic development and tourism at East Riding of Yorkshire Council
