The dedicated telephone number (01482) 393919 for the community response hub will change its opening hours this week due to the falling number of requests for help. From Monday, 6 July the operating hours of the telephone number will be between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

The community response hub was launched on 26 March by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, working alongside the HEY Smile Foundation and the local voluntary and community groups that were established in a response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The aim of the community response hub was to provide an additional avenue of support for those people across the East Riding who did not have a network of family, friends, neighbours or carers to call upon if they needed help or support.

Since its launch in March, almost 13,500 people have called the dedicated (01482) 393919 telephone number with requests for help with food, shopping, medication or just wanting someone to talk to and at the height of the pandemic, around 400 calls were being received a day.

As well as taking incoming calls, staff working on the community response hub have made over 28,000 outbound calls to those East Riding residents deemed vulnerable to ensure they were safe and well and had the support they needed.

But as the spread of the virus has slowed, so have the calls to the community response hub and from Monday, 6 July the operating hours of the telephone number will be between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
