FIRST HULL TRAINS has brought a new look to matches for one Holderness football team.
Hedon Rangers Football Club’s Under 15’s team has unveiled its new kit and First Hull Trains has announced its support as this year’s training shirt sponsor.
The company has chosen to sponsor Hedon Rangers as part of its commitment to helping grassroots level sport, which in the recent past saw First Hull Trains spearhead new initiatives such as the Hull and East Riding Sports Awards and sponsorship of young Olympic hopefuls.
The agreement was reached following a chance meeting at a football ground in Scarborough between First Hull Trains’ MD, Will Dunnett, and Hedon Rangers’ Under 15’s manager, Darren Walker. Mr Dunnett was extremely impressed with the professionalism of the club’s coaching and playing staff so he approached them afterwards about a possible collaboration.
Will Dunnett, First Hull Trains’ managing director, said: “We are committed to playing an active role in supporting our local teams. The funding that First Hull Trains has invested through this sponsorship deal is just one of many up and down the country and is a key part of our local community funding initiatives into grassroots sport.
“We hope our support will increase opportunities for young people to become involved in local sport, helping to produce the next generation of English football talent.”
Darren Walker said: “We are delighted to welcome the First Hull Trains brand to our club. They have established themselves as one of the country’s leading train operating companies and we look forward to working with them during the coming season.”
First Hull Trains is undertaking a policy of supporting different football clubs along its 210 mile route between Hull and London King’s Cross.
The First Hull Trains brand will appear on the Hedon Rangers shirts throughout 2014.
