THE KNIT & NATTER GROUP meet fortnightly on Thursdays at the Hedon Library.
Their first meeting of the year is a particularly special event for the group: An information session is being held by the International Children’s Ostomy Educational Foundation. The charity is currently conducting a campaign to make puppets – known as The Gastronauts – to help children suffering with bowel problems. The children, who have to wear ostomy bags, often find it difficult to explain the condition to other children and adults; the puppets can help the children describe their condition.
The charity is looking for volunteers to help make puppets and fundraise.
Diane Marles-Wright from the Knitting Group said:
“Mrs Judith Spurling will be talking to the members of the Hedon Library Knitting Group about her search for volunteers to help finish puppets for children who have Ostomy`s. These puppets help the children to learn about their condition and help support them and adjust to life with an Ostomy.”
The information session takes place at the Hedon Library on Thursday 9th January 2014 starting at 2pm.
Note: The Knit & Natter group of social knitters were responsible for creating the knitted nativity scene for the Hedon Christmas lights 2013 display.
