SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD Alyx Adams of Hedon Guides was busy raising funds at the Thorngumbald Gala on Saturday.
With the support of the Guides in the North East Alyx will be going to Ethiopia next month (August 2013) to carry out a community project to improve educational facilities for children. During the expedition to Africa Alyx will help out with supporting the project which will see the provision of new school classrooms.
Alyx has been raising money locally and is now just £700 short of the £2,500 needed for the trip. On Saturday Alyx and other Hedon Guides were busy running a tombola stall and offering face-painting at Thorngumbald Village Hall.
If you can help out with Alyx’s fundraising efforts, then contact the Hedon Blog and we will pass the information on to Alyx and the Hedon Guides.
Last year a group of North East Guides spent two weeks in Mexico carrying out community projects which included releasing baby turtles into the Pacific ocean following a trip to a sanctuary.
We are sure that Alyx will have similar exciting adventures to report back to us upon her return!
