THE COMMITTEE established to determine the Awards from the Yorkshire Water Community Fund met on Monday 22nd October 2012 in a marathon session at the Saltend Waste Water Treatment Works.
Seventy applications had been received by Yorkshire Water requesting grants totaling in excess of £190,000 between them! In light of this massive response, then a decision was made to allocate the entire funding available from this fund – £50,000 (rather than £25,000 this year and next year as originally planned).
Whilst the official notifications will go out to applicants in the next 2 – 3 weeks, the Hedon Blog can report that over 30 projects have been supported by the fund. 13 applications were invalid so this means that just over half of all applicant organisations received some funding.
The £50,000 Community Fund was established by Yorkshire Water as a means of compensating local communities for the foul odours emanating from the Saltend works over the last decade.
We will bring you a fuller report when applicants have been informed, and review some of the marvellous projects being supported from across the area.
