Keep on reporting the Smellies!

Odour ReportsFollowing blogging about the bad smells from Yorkshire Water’s waste water treatment facility in June this year I registered to receive updates from YW about these.

The first e-mail notification of update to Hull and Saltend News duly arrived by e-mail today.

The number of complaints received by Yorkshire Water is actually very low – the bad smell is sometimes very prevalent (particularly noticeable when passing the Saltend site at 6pm in the evening!) but obviously local residents have got used to it and no longer bother to complain!

Perhaps we need to organise a “report-it month” and pledge ourselves to Bad smells!report every foul odour that emanates from the site. We should remind Yorkshire Water that the problem remains and not resign ourselves to meekly accepting the fact.

What are your views?

East Riding LINk elects new Steering Group

ERY LINk logoThe East Riding Local Involvement Network – or LINk – is commited to improving local health and social care services in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

That body now has a new elected leadership of 8 individuals and voluntary/community organisations (see ERY LINk Website for results).

The new 16 strong Steering Group now has the job of investigating issues raised by local people and making recommendations for improving local health and care services.

The first issues to be investigated by the LINk will be GP appointments (difficulties in getting them!) and transport (difficulties in getting to hospitals).

This Blog hopes to follow the activities of the LINk and promote its work and the opportunities for local people to get involved – and importantly to report on the difference that the organisation makes to the quality of services delivered to the public.

Your Hedon Representatives – WriteToThem

WriteToThem

WriteToThem is a website service brought to you by the same people that developed FixMyStreet.

Basically the website asks for your post code and then uses this information to identify your local councillors, Member of Parliament, and Members of the European Parliament. It then provides a simple facility that allows you to send a message to any one of your local representatives.

Local results for my post code on the 21st September 2009 revealed the following results for the South West Holderness Ward:

Write to your Councillors:

Write to your Member of Parliament

Graham Stuart
Conservative

Write to your Member of the European Parliament

Have a look at the website and then leave your comments about it on The Hedon Blog.
