Policing in the region has experienced a massive boost in neighbourhood based staff according to the Local Policing Summary that has recently been circulated in Hedon.
Alene Branton, veteran of the Neighbourhood Watch movement and Chair of Humberside Police Authority states that we now have 2091 police officers, 1456 police staff, 319 PCSOs (Police Community Support Officers), 374 special constables and 109 volunteers all working together for the benefit of their neighbourhoods:
“This strong investment in local policing has been heavily supported by communities, partnerships and the voluntary sector and together neighbourhoods are becoming safer”
Locally in Hedon latest figures indicate that the neighbourhood approach is working: South & Mid Holderness area has the lowest recorded crime and the lowest recorded calls regarding Anti Social Behaviour in the East Riding of Yorkshire (see Humberside Police Website Local Crime Mapping and News for the Local Area).
So what do local residents think? Is Hedon a safe and enjoyable place to live and work? Leave a comment with your observations.
