Alan Car Panning 2 Photo of the Day 47

Week 16 of the 52 Week Challenge is PANNING.

Panning: Follow and take a photo of a moving subject whilst moving the camera, blurring the background to show movement. Shutter speed control whilst handling your camera is crucial here. Advanced: Your subject should be crystal clear, and your background a spectacular blur!

Red car photo resulting from a panning exercise. The image shows a red car with a motion blur effect in the background. Photo taken on Hedon Road. Shutter speed 1/30, aperture value f/13, and ISO is 200.

It takes a bit of practice, but you can create a relatively sharp subject against a background with motion blur for some stunning images. Don’t forget to send us your photos to include in the gallery.

Join the 52 Week Photography Challenge and send your photo to the Gallery.

Take part, discuss, and share the challenge.
