Hedon Haven Enterprise Park consultation

The two consultation sessions last night, saw a 4-strong team from ABP present the case. Pre-booked speakers took turns to have their say.

ONLINE CONSULTATION on Humber International Enterprise Park took place yesterday. The plan earmarked for the Hedon Haven has been submitted by Associated British Ports (ABP). It will be decided by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council planning committee.

ABP is submitting a hybrid planning application. Full planning permission is sought for the construction of a new road between Hull Road and Paull Road. It seeks outline planning permission to construct up to 394,839sqm of employment floorspace and 5,111sqm of flexible commercial floorspace. Proposals for associated landscaping and infrastructure are included.

The two consultation sessions, saw a four-strong team from Associated British Ports present the case for the proposed development. They were streamed live on YouTube. Pre-booked speakers took turns to take part. Each participant had five minutes to have their say. There were five participants in the first session and six in the second. With two speakers contributing to both sessions, that meant that nine people had their say.

An audience of 36 viewers online watched live on YouTube. Subsequent views will increase that number of hits. In Paull with 270 households, the ‘turnout’ can be considered low. We have shared the YouTube video of the consultation sessions here.

Most of those participating criticised the online consultations as inadequate.

Associated British Ports is the UK’s leading and best-connected port owner and operator. It has a network of 21 ports handling around a quarter of the UK’s seaborne trade. The company generates £7.5 billion every year and supports 119,000 jobs.
