BUNS and cakes were being sold in Hedon Town Centre on Saturday on behalf of Hedon Rainbows – but it wasn’t just about fundraising. The team of guides Lizzie, Eleanor and Alyx and Rainbows Martha and Emma were also raising the profile and awareness of the Rainbows too.
Hedon Rainbows cater specifically for girls aged 5 – 7 and provides a fun experience – the by-line of the organisation nationally, is “Look, Learn, Laugh, Love” – with things to do and make, games to play, and activities to take part in! They have their own website at rainbows.girlguiding.org.uk
But the Rainbows need their leaders to help make things happen! Local Hedon Rainbows leader Lizzie is having to give up her leadership role as she prepares to take up the challenge and excitement of a new university course – but she hopes to be able to fill the vacant post before she leaves.
Victoria Walsh, the Guiding Commissioner for Hedon, commenting on the Hedon Blog, said: “Volunteering with guiding has been the single most rewarding thing I have ever done. The experiences I have had are endless! I would love to welcome anyone who would like to be involved, feel free to contact me for a chat for more information, on email firstname.lastname@example.org or mobile: 07794 613 808.”
On the Hedon Blog we also promise to support the new Rainbows leader and make sure that we do our best to promote and publicise the group’s activities.
