A MESSAGE from our man at the wickets – Malc Ripley:

Malc Ripley
Malc Ripley

To all my ‘cricketing colleagues’, that possibly?! have maybe enjoyed my Reports and Articles in Ray Duffill’s interesting/informative “Hedon Blog”, over the years, I take this opportunity to wish all readers A Very Happy and Peaceful Christmas, and Good Health in 2014.

To close, now an advert, as we are always on the search in the Hull/East Yorkshire areas, for new Cricket Umpires to officiate from April next summer, which will be under the umbrella of the York & District Senior Cricket League, this will be a ‘first’ considering that the E. Y. Cricket Alliance is now sadly defunct.

A Match fee, together with travelling expenses are payable to Panel Umpires.

A challenge awaits, especially for the fairer sex — to become the first Lady to don the white coat as a member of the ECB ERACO (English Cricket Board, East Riding Association of Cricket Officials) – in its 60 year history! Blokes are welcome too.

A new ACO eight week-long, Level One Training Course begins on Sunday February 9th 2014, (10am to noon), costing about £20, with Qualified Tutor Mike Free at the helm. The venue being Hull Zingari CC in the upstairs room, at their Chanterlands Avenue North venue in Hull.

The Course is followed by a Multi Choice examination.

More details from myself, via email please, as the ER ACO Membership Secretary, on :- sueripley@sueripley.karoo.co.uk

The ERACO also meets monthly, during the winter months for its Ordinary Meetings – October to April. Venue as above.

Malc Ripley.

Hedon Blog says: For those readers missing Malc Ripley’s ‘cricketing chronicles’ – never fear! In the New Year we will bring you lots of interesting cricket nostalgia, pictures and interesting facts about, and related to, local cricket provided by Malc.
