BLOGGING about Hedon and bringing you the very local news about the place is a time-consuming passion!
To research a story, to write it – and then prune it, and then prune it again to make it suitable for the web – to proof-read it, to technically publish it using the Blog software, to check it once again for errors, all takes time to complete.
To get the news in the first place, involves trawling through hundreds of e-mails everyday, it involves been out-and-about in the town covering events, getting the occasional quote, taking photographs, it involves searching Facebook and Twitter for events and news sent by those who prefer to use those mediums… in short (pardon the pun), it all takes a l-o-n-g time!
Time is money they say, and one thing the Hedon Blog doesn’t really have time for, is making money! There’s almost a full-time job available in visiting local businesses and groups, selling advertising and seeking sponsors for the Blog and HU12 Online – but this side of the ‘business’ of blogging has been seriously neglected in favour of the actual news-gathering and publishing work.
Therefore it is prudent to give a VERY BIG THANK YOU to those local sponsors that enable the Blog to continue and repeatedly support us:
- The Station pub, on Souttergate,
- Ring ‘n’ Things in Watmough Arcade,
- Santander at Dennis Estate Agents.
Also a VERY BIG THANK YOU goes to the Holderness Gazette who support us by giving us a wider audience for the local material produced by the Blog.
So please, please, please use these local businesses – and when you do, please give them, on our behalf a VERY BIG THANK YOU for supporting the Hedon Blog!
