fire kills logoTHE FIRE BRIGADES’ UNION will be taking strike action today (Wednesday 25th September 2013) between 12noon and 4pm over a pensions’ dispute with government.

The message from Humberside Fire & Rescue Service is to take extra special care today.

“As there will be fewer fire engines available to attend incidents during periods of industrial action it is even more important that people take extra care to keep themselves and their loved ones safe.” – Assistant Chief Fire Officer and Director of Safety, Chris Blacksell.

Richard Hannigan, Chief Fire Officer for Humberside Fire and Rescue, said: “Whilst the industrial action is taking place we will still respond to 999 calls, a basic level of service is in place but we are asking people to only call 999 if they really do need a fire engine. Our priority will be to respond to those calls where lives are at risk.”
