PREPARATIONS are under way to publish a fundraising Hedon Civic Calendar 2014, which may be one of the first activities undertaken by a new Hedon Town Council supported Events Committee.
Fundraising calendars successfully helped support charities and good causes in Thorngumbald and Preston last year. It is anticipated that the Hedon calendar would have similar success.
Councillors Di Storr and David Thompson brought forward the suggestion to establish the committee at a Town Council meeting in July. The aim is for the council to support a series of small community events throughout the year; festivals, carnivals, sports, treasure hunts, fun days, away days, coach trips, etc. The events and activities would aim to be to be self-financing, but also be able to raise money for local good causes.
A councillors working group is considering aspects of the idea, and will report back to the Council at its next meeting in September.
