IT SEEMED as if a veritable Mum’s Army had hit Hedon yesterday when nearly twenty mothers and pushchairs set off from outside the Kingstown Hotel on a sponsored Pram Push.
The mums, whose route took them along Ivy Lane and into the town centre, were promoting Hedon’s Breastfeeding Café.
Hedon Breastfeeding Café is run by Hedon Children’s Centre in partnership with local volunteer Breastfeeding Peer Supporters. It runs every Thursday morning 11:00 am-12 noon after the child health clinic at Rosedale Community Unit Hedon.
The group is for Pregnant and Breastfeeding families and offers support and information on breastfeeding – and being a cafe, offers a range of hot drinks and cakes!
Another Breastfeeding promotion event is scheduled for Friday 2nd August 2013, when the Big Latch-On is to take place at East Park in Hull. The Big Latch-On is a simultaneous breastfeeding event, when groups of nursing mothers come together at specific venues around the world and see whether a new record for breastfeeding can be set.
Breastfeeding supplies the only natural food specifically designed for your baby and provides a range of benefits to both baby and mother. Alison Greaves is a Community Nursery Nurse at the Hedon Children’s Centre and is very keen to promote the benefits of breastfeeding and can be contacted about this, and the Big Latch-On, at the Centre:
