  • Jack Riley being honoured as the Club’s Young Player of the Year
  • 12-year-old Luke Ingram, a Yorkshire CCC Junior all-rounder, won a Special Junior Award, as he earned his place to turn out regularly for the 1st Xl last summer.

Valuable 30 year-long serving all-rounder Phil Allison, has announced his retirement, but Phil retains his position as ‘Club Captain’. His on field efforts will certainly be missed by the Club.

Rainy cloudIt had been a gloomy season for the two senior teams, both weather-wise and performance-wise. A rain ravaged season resulted in the Firsts finishing in ninth slot in the East Yorkshire Alliance Premier division, whilst their An Xl counterparts finished at the foot of the York Eastern Conference Division One, going on to be duly relegated.

The poor weather equally spoiled much of the Club’s Junior cricket – the Under 11’s, U13’s with 2 teams together with the U15’s, but these young charges still prospered under the dedication of the eight Coaches, who are also thanked for their encouragement and strong support, these being: – Darren Bamford, Neil Colclough, Andy Giles, Rob Hunt, Dave Maltby, Mike Oliver (and Chair of the Junior Committee), Steve Sison, and outgoing Head Coach, Chris White.

SHCC are as ever much indebted to their 2012 Sponsors, with the costs of running a cricket club currently spiralling, consequently, we are very grateful for the support of the following and their assistance with Funding:- Steve Crane of ‘Insight Financial Management’ of Hedon, Cranswick Country Foods plc in Preston, together with The Audio Room, P. Draper & Sons Ltd, CDY Ceilings & Partitions, The Hedon Haven Commissioners, The Tribune Trust, Hedon Women’s Institute, Mark & Judith Turnbull, together with the ‘Match Ball’ Sponsors – Footprints Chiropody of Holderness Road, Hull and former player Peter Robson.

The Club is seeking ‘Match Ball Sponsorship’ at £25 per game for next summer (40 matches). If any business or individual is interested in sponsorship, please contact the Hon. Secretary, Malc Ripley for more details – email address sueripley@sueripley.karoo.co.uk

President & Hon. Secretary: M G Ripley

Malc Ripley told the Hedon Blog: “As ever – many thanks for any Publicity that you can give the 130 year old Club, but I still believe that many Hedon folk don’t actually realise that a Cricket Club even exists in the ancient Borough, as it’s not called simply ‘Hedon CC’ we did consider changing its name for that particular reason.”

The Club is always looking for new players! Volunteers who would like to get involved with the Club’s organisation will also be made very welcome. Contact Malc on the email highlighted above!

  1. Still waiting for a copy of the 2012 Annual accounts which are being kept from members, my requests have been ignored and I’ve even been blocked from the clubs facebook page for asking! Should members be worried?
