BP Toxic Alarm Test – Thursday 22nd November 2012
TOXIC ALARM TEST – THURSDAY 22nd NOVEMBER 2012
BP at the Saltend Chemicals Park has given advance notice of its intention to test its toxic alarm system on THURSDAY 22nd NOVEMBER 2012.
The alarm, which sounds like an old World War II air raid siren, is normally tested every Wednesday at 2pm. But the exercise on Thursday 22nd November is a major test of the Saltend emergency procedures and will involve the alarm sounding for a longer period.
The letter circulated from the company (pdf) says:
“Unfortunately, we cannot give you a precise time for the test because we do not want to pre-warn our workforce. We hope that this does not cause you inconvenience but our apologies in advance if this is the case.”
