Open Hearing in Hedon about proposals to flood Cherry Cobb Sands

9:59 am
Alexandra Hall – Venue for Open Hearing on 5th Sept 2012

THE ALEXANDRA HALL will be the setting for an Open Hearing in September on the proposals by ABLE UK to build a Marine Energy Park on the South Bank of the Humber.

The proposals have aroused controversy because of the supplementary proposal to create a wetlands wildlife area at Cherry Cobb Sands in the parish of Paull to replace natural areas lost in the South Bank. Productive Farmland will be flooded in order to create the new nature area.

  1. At a meeting with Hedon and Paull councillors at Paull School with Able Uk, Able Uk said they had looked at many sites but the Cherry Cob Sands site was the preferred option, it was shown that a site next to the nature reserve at Barton was looked at and others in the main in Lincs but all discounted. They said they had consulted with the required authorities such as Keyingham Parish Council, it was explained to them that the site is in Paull Parish not Keyingham. It seems they believe they should flood perfectly good productive farmland for birds to occupy because they wish to construct a site for wind farm contruction on the south bank near Immingham, I believe if this has to happen because of EU rules, then at least create the wetlands wildlife area on the south bank by extending the nature reserve at Barton
