Hello again…Some more of my scribbles. This one turned in to a song…
Do ghosts need to sleep… by Vinny Shepherd
Do ghosts need to sleep, Are they tired of death?
The misgivings of the living, come on give it a rest.
If seeing is believing, I’ve got x-ray eyes.
And if the walls have ears, just paper over the lies.
Pin your tail on a monkey, pin your hopes on me.
Because I’m living in the basement with a view of the sea.
If you’re happy and you know it, but you think you’re gonna blow it.
Grab a rattle and a bottle and come sit on my knee.
Because when the sun goes down and the curtains are closed,
You can take away the rings, the same old things are proposed.
Can two wrongs make a right under an un-natural light.
When they mate on tracing paper in a heavyweight fight.
So many words and pictures locked away in a box,
But the best ones are just questions dressed in hospital socks.
Then you’re out of the blocks and your stitches will fade,
All this rushing, button pushing, leaves no space to invade.
But I understand completely, it’s the bed to be in.
That’s why I’m shedding my skin into a four storey bin.
But it doesn’t paint the picture like you see in the clouds,
Or make you happy running naked through such curious crowds.
Or solve the mystery at the fun fair for a knockdown prize.
Or dry the eyes of a liar in a cartoon disguise.
But it tells you that you’re upright but with nothing to do.
Like a spaceman with a headache coming out of the blue.
So if you see me riding tandem with my feet in the air,
I know you probably stare, there’s only half of me there.
And if you see me on a see-saw with my ar#e on the ground,
Don’t feel the need to tell me softly that there’s no-one around.
Try to tune this piano with your hands in the fire,
The gloves will make them warmer while you’re walking the wire.
When they take away your dinner, push you out in the street,
Then they pull out all your tubes and make you stand on your stone age feet.
Say it, say yeah. Say it to everyone you see or if there’s nobody there.
Say yeah, say it. Use the kind of words you want I know you’re just doing your bit.
Cheers,Vinny,Hedon..
