Summer Holiday Football School

7:37 am

THE EAST RIDING FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT will be running its first holiday soccer school this summer at South Holderness Technology College, where a five-day course is to be held at the South Holderness 3G pitch.

The soccer school will run from Monday, 22 August to Friday, 26 August 2011, and sessions for 6-11 year olds will run from 10am – 3pm with a supervised lunch break.

The costs are £10 per day, £25 for three days or £35 for the full five days.

Ed Grady, football development coordinator with East Riding Council, said:

“This is an excellent opportunity for young people within our local community to access high quality football coaching. The sessions will focus on all aspects of football, from basic skills and techniques to match-based coaching principles, through to a small-sided tournament.

“We will be focusing on the young players developing throughout the week and will run a series of small competitions which will give the children the opportunity to showcase their abilities and new skills. We will also be looking to link the soccer school with local partner clubs and open up pathways into competitive football.”

The Football Development Project is part of the school’s Football Foundation Funded Facility Development which included the building of a third generation (3G) Astroturf pitch.

The project aim is to develop key football targets such as women and girls, mini soccer and disability playing opportunities.
