No applications for Royal Wedding street parties in Holderness

TWENTY TWO STREET PARTIES to celebrate the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton have been planned in East Yorkshire according to the East Riding Council.

The deadline for those wishing to organise a street party for the Friday 29th April, passed last Friday, and the Council has confirmed that it has received only 22 applications and none of these are from Holderness.

It is possible that some parties will be taking place that do not require road and street closures (inside community centres and other venues, private roads and car-parks, etc), however 22 does seem to be a surprisingly small number.

In Hull the number of street parties taking place is even lower with only 10 currently being formally organised (the deadline for applications in Hull is April 11th, so still time for this figure to improve).

Locally, then the only Royal Wedding celebration taking place in Hedon is the Gala being organised at The Station Pub. Jackie at the pub has reminded people that there are only 5-weeks to go before the celebration and is encouraging people to give their ideas on making the Gala a truly memorable celebration.
