“POWERBOAT RACING” is a new sport which comes to Kelsey Gardens at the weekend Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th March 2011.
However, don’t expect ‘James Bond type’ extreme mindless action, because this event will be a far more inventive, fun and a family affair! The boats must not be longer than 5 metres and must be propelled soley by one or more cordless electric tools which must cost no more than £400 in total to replace. This is affordable powerboat racing for the family.
Ian at the Burstwick leisure attraction tells us more on the Kelsey Gardens Blog:
“Here’s a chance for all you budding inventors to go into the shed and come out with your ideas. The boats themselves can have been bought or homemade but they must be safe and sailors must wear protective gear. Practising will take place on the Saturday with the races on the Sunday. Everyone is welcome to come and participate or just to watch the action. As usual hot and cold refreshments will be available.”
