THE COUNCIL DEPOT at Magdalen Hill to the north east of Hedon is to be re-developed. The site is the base for council operations such as refuse collection, grounds maintenance, road gritting and snow clearing.

Subject to planning permission, the existing buildings and storage facilities will be demolished and new buildings and offices errected as part of council plans to improve facilities at all its depots. The site also contains a salt barn constructed only last year which will remain.

Local history buffs will know that the depot is located on the site of a former World War II anti-aircraft battery.
