The consultation is now underway on the East Riding Council’s proposed car parking charges and measures. The first consultation session took place last Thursday 2nd April in Beverley with the next scheduled for Driffield on Tuesday 7th April. The ‘roadshow’ for Hedon residents takes place at South Holderness School on Thursday 14th May. Residents can drop-in at any time between 4:30pm and 7:00pm.

The facts and opinions are being placed in front of residents in many ways. The East Riding News delivered to all East Riding households contains a centre-page spread entitled “Creating a fairer car park charging system”; the council’s website currently has the issue highlighted on its home page and an online consultation form is available to complete and submit.

The Hull Daily Mail continued its “Park the Charges” campaign by handing over a dossier of information to the East Riding Council as reported in Mail hands over Park The Charges dossier.

No decisions have yet been taken on the proposals and the Council has pledged that all consultation responses will be carefully considered.  The final decisions will be a matter for the Full Council after consideration and recommendations by the overview management committee and the cabinet.
