52-Week Photography Challenge 2026.
Hedon Viewfinders launches its 52-Week Photography Challenge today, with Weeks 1 and 2.
The Challenges – Introduction.
Each challenge is designed to be fun but presents an opportunity to explore a technical or creative aspect of photography. There is an added advanced part of each challenge to stretch your abilities even further, should you wish. You only compete with yourself on this challenge, so you can dip in and out of them as you want. But do award yourself a point for each challenge completed – and two points for every advanced challenge. Join the challenge any week, and feel free to play catch-up. Do send us your images if you wish, to rlduffill@gmail.com, mentioning the week number and subject, and we’ll add them to a 52-Week Challenge gallery.
Competitions.
Whilst the weekly challenges are offered for fun to share with your photography friends, we will also hold monthly print competitions taking place on the last Wednesday of each month at the Haven Arms. You can enter a print based on any of that month’s challenges. £2 entry – prizes to be won!
More information about the Challenges and Competitions here.
Week 1 – 1st – 4th January – Selfie:
Take a selfie with attitude! Take a selfie of yourself showing a strong emotion.
Advanced: Take your selfie in silhouette – but we still need to know it’s you!
The first photographic self-portrait was taken in 1839, but the phrase ‘selfie’ wasn’t coined until 2002. Whether activating your shutter and getting into the frame, or using your phone to take your own photo, selfies make up millions of images taken every week. Start your 52-Week Photography Challenge journey with a series of selfies with a difference! Hold on to your images/prints – we may need them later!

Week 2 – 5th – 11th January – Tiny (Macro) – and then every Monday until Sunday for a new challenge.
Take a picture of a small object as close as you can. Fill the frame so it looks massive.
Advanced: The ability to capture the finest detail is essential in your photo.
