YVONNE BILLANY, the wife of the Mayor of Hedon is continuing her personal fundraising challenge to raise essential restoration funds for St. Augustine’s Church. She set out to raise a modest £250 by using her stepping machine to walk 2km a day for 30 days. But by 24 days into her challenge, the Mayoress had easily smashed this target!

“Yvonne’s total has now gone over £1,000”, reported Colin on Saturday. “It’s £670 on JustGiving, we’ve got £150, and the church has around £200. Grand total £1020.”
The challenge had been inspired following the Rev. Sue Pulko recounting tales of falling masonry inside and outside the church. Yvonne said: “I personally felt that I wanted to do whatever I could to help. After sitting and thinking hard. I decided on doing a 60 km walk using my stepper in a seated position, as I have MS (Multiple Sclerosis) and mobility issues. My goal is to step 2km per day during April. My Husband is recording my daily distance. I wanted to end his term as 673rd Mayor by giving something back to the community.”
There is still time to support Yvonne! Have a look at her JustGiving fundraising page:

This is not the first time that Yvonne has got involved in fundraising for a good cause. In August 2014 swimming was the activity chosen by Yvonne to raise money. See: Swimming Achievement benefits MS Society.
