HEDON MARKET reopens fully again today after months under lockdown restrictions which saw only a few stalls allowed to open.
Both shoppers and traders will need to follow Government guidelines to maintain public safety. Follow social distancing rules and any information displayed on the day.
There has been a history of a market trading in Hedon stretching back over 800 years. It is now managed locally under licence from Hedon Town Council. Both resident shoppers and visitors to the town will be looking forward to today’s reopening.
The idea for running the current modern market originated in the late 1980’s championed by then councillor John Ledger. Wednesday was chosen as an appropriate day for the market. That was the day when local resident traders’ takings were considered to be at their lowest. The market was seen as a way to bring more people into the town as a way of supporting local traders.
Hedon Market is open 9am to 3pm on Wednesdays in the Hedon Market Place.
