Local Planning News:
A look at the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Public Access website reveals progress is being made with the proposal to construct a hybrid natural gas production and energy storage facility at Saltend Chemicals Park on the site previously used by BP as a car park.
The Hong Kong-based VPower Group Holdings Ltd plans to install twenty generators and battery storage technology. Planning permission has already been approved. The current variation to the original planning permission sets out the applicant’s intention to meet the planning conditions.
The new facility will supply energy to the national grid using a ‘hybrid’ project system that will supply energy first using battery power, then gas, but not operating at the same time. For the majority of the time, the station would be switched off, waiting for an instruction from National Grid to generate.
