SOUTH HOLDERNESS CRICKET:
Next Saturday 27th July 2013, at Middle Lane, Hedon 1.00pm, the 1st’s team are at home again, with a view to return to the winning path, as they take on the improving Eastrington CC, with the Match Ball Sponsored by Drapers Ltd, Metal Merchants, of Black Five Loco Works, Raven Street, Hull
The Club was brought back to earth after the recent elation of the success of the Under 13’s famous Cup Final victory, coupled with the promising 14-year-old all-rounder Jack Riley’s maiden fifty, against Yapham CC, even though Holderness lost this fixture.
The down side being the Senior teams third reverse on the trot, as they tumbled to a four wicket defeat in a comparatively low scoring affair, on a dry, straw coloured pitch at Middle Lane, in overcast conditions.
Also below is an uplifting report from the Frank Hampton Cup tournament.
MATCH REPORTS:
First Team: Hull Ionians & Coal Exporters (HICE) CC replied with 129 for 6 with 45 overs used, good batting from Dan Daley (48), and Chris Roger’s undefeated 24, doing the trick. Rich Rosindale tried manfully to stave off the eventual, with fine figures of 4 for 31 in his 13 over stint, but he experienced little support at the opposite end.
Earlier, Scott Crane was drafted into the Hedon side’s depleted squad, arriving to top score with a pleasing and good looking 45, as well as bagging a couple of catches. Skipper Rich Ingram opened with his 18, Craig McFaden re-appeared with a solid 24, before Andy Kunkell added 15, in the well short of par 127 all out, after three early wickets tumbled. Liam Walker with 4 for 14 from 11 overs, and James Barker claiming 2 for 6, proved the difference, in the match Sponsored by Footprints Chiropody, of Holderness Road, Hull.
SHCC 127 lost to HICE CC by four wickets.
An XI: In the Holderness local derby at Roos CC, the An Xl performed well enough to secure a 4 wicket victory, with their confident reply of 153 for 6 off some 36.3 overs. Teenage all-rounder Liam Colclough played a significant role, making 21 not out, after taking 3 for 14 in six fine overs, supported by Ian Harrison with 3 for 52, and Tom Verity taking 2 for 45, in the home side’ s 152 for 8.
Roos were indebted to the evergreen John Dearing, with a well fashioned 48, when Dave Cowell supported with 30, to give a respectable total. Tom Verity did well with the bat, as he finished a good match by scoring an undefeated 23, and Gtaham Slinger’s 23, Dearing taking 3 for 57 in a long 17 over accurate stint.
This leaves the Hedon outfit some 26 points, but with a game in hand, over Dalton Holme, in second place, therefore all to play for as the summer carries on. Holderness still have to travel to Gilberdyke and to Dalton Holme, both difficult affairs.
The Frank Hampton:
The Frank Hampton Cup was played for on Sunday 21st July 2013 by the club’s youngsters along with their dads, the usual format was changed into a 6-a-side softball tournament to make it alot more enjoyable for everyone taking part. Over 30 dads and lads were put into teams and a round-robin league was played, some good (juniors) and bad cricket (dads) was enjoyed by a large crowd. Then by mid-afternoon the top two teams after the league stages were left to battle it out in the final.
Luke and Mark Turnbull, Jack and Danny Barker, Liam Colclough (c) and Joe Robinson formed the winning team beating Phil and Alfie Simms (c), Matt and Ben Lowery, Tom Rouse and Matt Cripsey by 13 runs in a close final that went down to the last over. A nice gesture at the end by skipper Liam Colclough, as he asked Luke to receive the cup named in memory of his late Great Grandpa.
Senior player of the tournament went to Jim Vinnegrad and the Junior player of the tournament went to Adam Ingram for their outstanding cricketing prowess.
A very successful and well-supported day by everyone at the club’s junior section – and we are already planning for a bigger tournament next year.

Junior Fixtures:
Under 17’s :_ SHCC 112 for 5 in 20 overs( Jack Riley 50 no), lost to Yapham CC 132 for 2, by 20 runs.
Under 13’s:- SHCC 93 for 5 in 20 overs, (Luke Ingram 25 no, Lewis Hunt 10, Dom Lyons 2 for 8 in 2 overs), lost to Welton CC 94 for 4 in 20 overs, by 6 wickets, (Jacob Hill 10 no, Liam Colclough 1 for 5, Joe Robinson 1 for 7).
