Jaimie-Leigh Smithson

BY SPECIAL INVITATION of the Hedon Mayor Councillor Jim Lindop, Open Mic UK contestant 12-year-old Jamie-Leigh Smithson will be singing at the Hedon Christmas Lights celebrations.

Jaimie-Leigh got through two rounds of the Open Mic competition and appeared in the North England and Scotland Area Final on Saturday (24th November 2012). Unfortunately, despite a performance which Judges said was “Good, confident and thoroughly enjoyable” and the fact that she was “A great prospect at just 12 years-old”, Jaimie-Leigh did not get through to the finals.

However, the young singer has the chance to win over her home crowd when she appears at the town’s biggest event of the year – the Hedon Christmas Lights ‘Switch-On’ event.

All the festive fun – including 28 stalls running almost the full length of St Augustine’s Gate and Market Place, and a family of reindeer – starts at 6:00pm on Friday 30th November 2012.
