Still ‘bad patch’ for local cricket teams!

9:26 am

BOTH SOUTH HOLDERNESS Cricket Club (SHCC) teams are still going through a bad patch, as they slumped to heavy defeats at the hands of Kirk Ella and North Dalton respectively, (writes Malc Ripley).

At Middle Lane, the An Xl totalled an improved 168 for 4 in their 40 overs thanks mainly to a hard-hitting 88 from all-rounder Lewis Duell, supported by former Patrington batsman Pete Richardson with his 40.

This effort was nowhere near enough as the visitors had veteran left-hander Alan Lees to thank for their win as he made a solid 75 to instigate an easy nine wicket success off only 29 overs as the Hedon side’s attack toiled.

The 1st team’s massive 227 run reverse was equally as bad at Well Lane, as a result of the winners hammering a huge total on their small ground, no less than 338 for 5, when they mercifully declared after 46 overs.

Ashley Wills was the big thorn in the SHCC flesh as he slaughtered the visitors attack to the tune of 119 with no less than 102 of his runs coming from fours and sixes! John Brattan took 2 for 17 in his single over for Holderness.

Their reply figured virtually as a one-man-band, with only captain Rich Ingram reaching any form with a solid 54 containing 8 fours and a six as then only youngster George Cooper with 10, could lend support in a disappointing reply of 111 all out in the 42 overs, as their poor summer continues.

The 1st team are at Hedon’s Middle Lane ground this coming Saturday 11th August 2012 at 1.00pm, when they entertain HICE with the Match Ball being Sponsored by former SHCC bowler Peter Robson.
