Wednesday Writings – The Tree

5:00 pm

THE TREE by Katie Whitehead aged 8.

On a breezy day,
I wave and dance at people
But only if they wave back!

On a summer day,
I give little children some of
My lovely cherry and apple blossom.

On a winter day,
I huddle up and don’t budge
Until spring returns once more.

On a spring day,
My son grows up to be as
Tall as me and takes my place.

On a autumn day,
I dye my hair to stay the
Prettiest tree in the world.

Katie, who goes to Inmans Primary School and likes reading, swimming and riding her bike, said: “I first wrote this poem at school when we were learning about personification poetry, I thought a poem about a tree would be good as trees normally don’t do much but this makes them sound very interesting”

Inspired by Katie’s delightful poem of a Tree through the seasons?
