A new Honorary Freeman of the Town of Hedon

8:19 am

A ‘HONORARY FREEMAN OF HEDON’ title may be bestowed upon former Hedon Town Councillor John Ledger in recognition of his many years of service in promoting the town.

Borough councils are permitted to pass a resolution admitting “persons of distinction” and persons who have “rendered eminent service” to be an honorary freeman of the borough. A resolution to confer the honour on Mr Ledger is being moved at a special meeting of the Hedon Town Council on Thursday (27th October 2011).

A vote will be taken at the meeting which will decide if, or not, Hedon Town Council does confer the title of Honorary Freeman on Mr Ledger. Two thirds of those members present and voting will need to vote in favour of the proposal for it to be passed.

Whatever the vote – it is an honour just to be considered! Congratulations to John Ledger!
