Police appeal for volunteers to help with search for missing Marlene

7:42 pm

POLICE ARE STILL ASKING FOR HELP from the public to help locate a missing Withernsea woman, Marlene Wagstaff.

Mrs Wagstaff was reported missing on Friday 22 July 2011 and since then a large scale search has been undertaken by the police and coastguard in an attempt to locate her. Police yesterday issued a picture of Mrs Wagstaff’s shoes and asked people to look out for them, in case she may have lost one.

Police are becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare and are now urging any members of the public that would be able to assist with the search from the Withernsea area to contact them.

Sgt Dave Jenkins, Withernsea Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We are working hard to try and locate Mrs Wagstaff. A search team has been put together which includes the police helicopter, mounted section, underwater search team and officers on foot searching through Withernsea and the surrounding areas.”

“We know that Mrs Wagstaff is a keen walker and therefore we are appealing for dog walkers, horse riders and residents in the area to be vigilant and report any possible sightings of Marlene to the police. The area around Withernsea is very rural and we are inviting anyone that has some time to spare to come and assist us in this search.”

Mrs Wagstaff or anyone who knows of her current whereabouts or thinks they may have seen her since Friday afternoon is asked to contact Humberside Police on 0845 60 60 222 quoting log 311 of 26 July 2011.
