TWITTER IS A REAL-TIME information network that connects you to the latest information about what you find interesting. Simply find the public streams you find most compelling and follow the conversations.

At the heart of Twitter are small text-like messages of information called Tweets. Each Tweet is 140 characters in length, but you can share a lot with a little space and link to other websites and sources of further information.

Some people never tweet, they simply use Twitter as a way to get the latest information on the things that interest them. Whilst Facebook is all about connecting and chatting, Twitter is more about collecting and sharing information. …Of course some people use it to follow their favourite pop-stars and celebrities. Hmph!

Connected to each 140-character Tweet is a details section that provides additional information. You can tell your story within your Tweet, or you can think of a Tweet as the headline, and use the details pane to tell the rest with photos, videos and other media content. See Twitter in action on YouTube.

For those of you who are serious about searching and organising with Twitter, then you can download third-party applications like TweetDeck to help you do just that!

In the New Year… Let’s have a local meet-up of all those connected to the Hedon Blog via its  Twitter Account @HedonBlog (and Facebook Page) – a Tweet-up (and a Face-up)!

This can be a social event, but also a chance to bring your own Hedon news and views for inclusion in the town’s own 21st century news channel! And a chance to meet others who want to help out with the Blog reporting and information service.

Watch this space…

PS: Thank you to Glenn Stallard who sent in this cool Hedon Blog logo! Only just retrieved it after it got caught up in the Blog e-mail system.
