THE HAVEN ARMS in Hedon will be celebrating all things English on St George’s Day which takes place this Friday 23rd April 2010.

Traditional ‘Bangers and Mash’ will be on offer and the special brew of the day will be – wait for it – Spitfire beer! And the popular pub and eating venue will even be showing ‘The Dambusters’ film on their large cinema screen.

No doubt after a few tonsils have been tickled with a half or two of Spitfire then there might be a verse or two of “Land of Hope and Glory” being thrown in as well!

April 23rd is also said to be the date of England’s most famous playwright William Shakespeare’s birth in 1564. He also died on April 23rd as well! So in a double celebration of all things English, Mark from the Haven Arms tells us that “poetry from the Bard” will feature during the celebrations!
