THE INMAN’S ROAD AREA in Hedon looks set to benefit from Government Flood Protection Grants announced last Thursday by the Environment Minister, Huw Irranca-Davies.

The Property Level Flood Protection Grant Scheme is part of the Government’s response to the 2007 floods. Funding is being allocated to schemes enabling households to benefit from practical flood protection solutions such as air bricks covers, storm porches, door guards and flood boards.
In all £2.6 million will be allocated to 34 areas across the UK at high risk of flooding enabling 532 households to benefit from practical flood protection solutions. Fifty homes in Hedon are expected to benefit from around £200,000 share of the funding.
The East Riding Council will deliver the local flood protection measures.
