Hedon March Against the Incinerator!

HOTI Balloons2Over 400 people braved a blustery October wind on Saturday 3rd October 2009 to march against proposals to site a waste burning incinerator at Saltend near Hedon.

The  demonstration organised by HOTI proved that local opposition to the plans is still very strong in the Hull and Holderness area.

Graham Stuart MP showed his support and spoke at the event rally, which DSCF2030also included the symbolic release of hundreds of black and yellow balloons. In this case the strong winds carried away the HOTI balloons filled with helium harmlessly into the sky; the local fear is that the incinerator chimneys will carry far more toxic gases into the local atmosphere!

The HOTI campaign continues….. and the Hedon Blog will continue to report on this important local campaign.

  1. The YouTube video was first posted on Graham Stuart MP’s website and is a record of the protest and rally held on Saturday 3rd October 2009 against the Waste Incinerator proposed for Saltend, Hedon.
