OUTGOING TOWN MAYOR Councillor Mrs Ann Suggit has published information about the donations made to good causes from her annual charity fundraising efforts.
The St. Augustine’s Church Restoration Fund is perhaps one of the biggest appeals in the town and Councillor Suggit has organised several activities throughout the civic year to support this (including the proceeds from inviting the Humberside Police Concert Band to perform in April 2010). This worthy cause benefitted from £1,625 donation.
The Royal British Legion (women’s section) received a donation of £100. Help for Heroes, the charity that supports our wounded armed forces personnel, received £265.
Congratulations to Councillor Suggit on a successful year representing Hedon.
FOLLOWING ITS BEER FESTIVAL over the last May Day Bank Holiday, the Haven Arms is hosting its second ANNUAL CIDER FESTIVAL this bank holiday weekend Friday 28 to Monday 31 May 2010.
There will be 20 hand-drawn draft ciders available at all times (as well as 10 handpulled beers).
On Saturday during the day the Rugby Challenge Cup quarter final is being shown and at night the local band SCORPIO will be revisiting the 60s. The Restaurant food will be available until 9.30pm.
On sunday there is the second Challenge Cup quarter final and the regular quiz night later on. There is an extra all day carvery on bank holiday Monday.
A bouncy castle will be available for kids at all times.

THE TOWN HALL currently displays the amount of charity funds raised during the course of the outgoing town Mayor’s year in office. Unfortunately the figures are out by £100 based on the itemised amounts given.
The amount displayed on the noticeboard outside the Town Hall gives a grand total of £1,990 raised.
However my trusty calculator based on the itemised figures give a total of £2,090.
Oh dear! It seems an extra ’1′ was added to the item ‘Donation’ which should have been only £34 giving correct figures of:
| Tombola | £400 |
| Mulled Wine Christmas Stall | £160 |
| Coffee Morning | £225 |
| Donation from Hedon Christian Life Church | £100 |
| Money left from dinner | £35 |
| Donation from Silver Show (inc. £10 donation) | £45 |
| Humberside Police Concert Band (inc. donation) | £991 |
| Donation | £34 |
| TOTAL | £1,990 |
Of course it is important that this error does not detract from the sterling efforts made by the Mayor’s office to raise monies for good causes. And congratulations are offered to all those involved in this important work.
