General Election 2024 – Question Time – Hedon
A QUESTION TIME event is being held in Hedon on Monday, June 17 at the Haven Arms where candidates for the Beverley and Holderness constituency in the General Election will have the opportunity to go head-to-head in a public debate. The questions for this event will be generated from residents in the constituency. It will be chaired by the respected journalist Angus Young.

Questions submitted to the Question Time, include…
Whilst most people who have booked to come to the event have listed health, social care or the NHS as one of their top three issues, there is only one specific question submitted to candidates on that subject; “Will you admit that the NHS is broken…?”.
Other questions ask about tackling the climate crisis and achieving energy-efficient homes. Obtaining adequate funding for children with special educational needs and disabilities and tackling crumbling infrastructure in school buildings concerns other questioners. Immigration concerns many of those listing their top three election issues.
Specifically, local issues have not been the subject of many questions, with one exception being telegraph poles installed against community opinion.
The deadline for questions has now passed and these have been passed on to the candidates for their careful consideration. There are still seats available. Just come along on the night. Please arrive early for a prompt 7.00 pm start.
- Apologies from Chris Collin who has a prior commitment.
- Apologies from Denis Healy who can not attend. He will be represented by Linda Johnson the Liberal Democratic candidate for Hull West and Haltemprice.
Seating at the event may be limited so we ask you to use this form to book a free seat (by noon Friday 14th June). One form per person, please. We will email you nearer the event with further details of attending.
The form will also help identify the most popular questions for the Question Time.
It is anticipated that the Question Time will be recorded and possibly live-streamed. While the attention will be on the candidates there may be some audience shots. If you do not wish to be filmed please make this clear to the stewards when entering the venue.
The information on this form will only be used to run this event. A sample of questions may be used anonymously to promote the event. After the event, the information will be deleted.
