Pensana Rare Earths Ground Breaking Ceremony

Ground Breaking ceremony on Thursday 21 July 2022 to mark the beginning of the £multi-million rare earths facility

PENSANA PLC, behind the new rare earths processing facility destined for land adjacent to the Saltend Chemicals Park, have announced they are holding a “milestone” Ground Breaking ceremony on Thursday 21 July 2022.

The company says that over 300 people have been invited to witness the act of breaking the ground to begin the £multi-million construction project. Representatives from the Government, local councillors, local industry and many of the organisations that have assisted Pensana in reaching this milestone are expected to attend.

“The plant will employ over 450 people during the 12-month main construction phase and will create 125 long-term, high-value operational jobs” claims the company.

“Commencing in 2024 Saltend will produce 12,500 tonnes of separated rare earths including 4,500 tonnes of the critically important magnet metal rare earths representing over 5% of world supply.”

Located in the fully serviced Saltend Chemicals Park, and part of the Humber Freeport, the Saltend facility will be able to import high-value rare earths from Pensana’s own mine in Africa as well as from third-party sources from around the world.

  1. I have yet to hear that the Environment Agency have granted a permit for the process (or consulted on the proposals).
