RATS traffic campaign group – Preston residents asked to show support

The campaign to resolve Preston’s ongoing traffic complaints has just stepped up a gear – enter the Preston RATS!

Residents asked to display window posters!

AFTER YEARS of patiently collecting information on Preston’s traffic congestion and other related problems, and diligently presenting this to officers and representatives of East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC), village traffic campaigners have now escalated their efforts and their campaign.

Launched at the recent Preston Show, the RATS campaign has started! Residents have been asked to support the Residents Against Traffic Situation campaign and display window posters across the village.

A promised strategic review into Preston’s traffic problems had been previously agreed it was understood, but ERYC council officers recently revealed that such a review was unaffordable.

A Preston RATS campaign spokesperson said: “ERYC thinks that there isn’t a problem with traffic in Preston and tell us that we aren’t any worse off than a lot of other villages. We need to let them know our feelings. If you want to be involved please e-mail prestontrafficgroup@gmail.com.”

There are three campaign window posters. Residents can print their own off or request one from the campaign group email.

At a recent street meeting in the village, local MP Graham Stuart offered to give the best support he could to efforts to resolve the village traffic problems, but there had to be demonstrable local support in the village for such a campaign.

The window poster campaign should reveal the strength of feeling in the village.
