“Just to keep you updated, I attended a meeting of the East Riding Cabinet, Party Leaders and Senior Directors yesterday (18 March) to update our plans for the coronavirus situation.
“Obviously, the present situation is constantly changing, but we have received as much reassurance as possible that the Authority has a number of tried and tested, robust plans which are being introduced on all fronts to try and deal with problems as they arise.
“I know many of you in the community have been keen to find out how you can volunteer to help vulnerable people and those who are self-isolating, and how those people can find the help they need with daily tasks such as shopping and picking up medications. The East Riding is currently working on creating a system to allow vulnerable people to safely and easily get the help they need from community volunteers. I’ll update you as soon as I know any more. We all need to look out for each other now more than ever!
“In the meantime, these postcards are a great idea for anyone who can volunteer. Just print them off, fill in and post them through your neighbours’ doors. For those who can’t print them but would like some, we have printed a batch and hung them on our office door at 21 St Augustine’s Gate, Hedon – feel free to pop by and get some.
“As matters develop, I’ll post updates on my Facebook Page to share information as far as possible. Please feel free to spread these far and wide. Stay safe everyone, and remember to Wash Your Hands!”
