In PRESTON, experience some real magical moments when two church venues stage great events for Christmas time.
The All Saints Church will be open for its traditional Festival of Christmas Trees opening every Saturday and Sunday starting 5th December to Sunday 20th December from 1pm to 4pm.
Richard Thorp from the church says: “This will be our thirteenth year of running the festival and we would like to thank everyone who has supported the event this year – and in previous years – with their wonderful displays. The money raised at this year’s event will be towards funding for a new community room within the church.”
The tradition of decorating trees to celebrate Christmas was first introduced to this country by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in the 1840’s; and with some 40 trees decorated by local community groups, businesses and individuals, it is a tradition wonderfully preserved by the All Saint’s Church – this is one of the area’s ‘must-see’ events for Christmas!

Also, this year at the nearby Preston Methodist Chapel at the crossroads, a Celebration of Christmas is running on the same weekends (as above) from 1pm – 3:30pm featuring original Christmas-themed artwork produced by local groups and people from the local community. A display featuring the many different aspects of Christmas is being staged, and a variety of festival stalls will be available.
So with two seasonal events to visit, Preston is definitely a stopping off point for those people wanting to discover a truly original and delightful Christmas experience.
