AS THE JUNE Deadline for submissions to the Hedon Calendar 2015 approaches, then local photographers might want to consider the following for scenic locations and ideas – it’s probably best to take your photos ‘landscape’ (horizontal) style.

You can take any photos you like, as long as the theme is ‘Hedon’.

Ivy Lane – Always the source of inspirational photos! There is Elsie Gate field, the cemetery and surrounding land, Horse field and Horeswell Pond to consider – and keep a lookout for wildlife too!

St Augustine’s Church – Probably the most photographed site in Hedon. But can you find an unusual angle, or capture the beauty of the church at sunrise or dusk perhaps?

Odd photos – I loved these chestnuts on the street name sign by Thomas Hayton! Can you take a photo that makes an ordinary looking sight look quite different?

Flowers – You can tell the time of year usually by the flowers that are growing. We’ve had snowdrops and daffodils – now is the perfect time to capture tulips!

People – Generally you should only photograph people with their permission, but on public parades around town, and at public events where people expect to be ‘snapped’ it is usually okay. For the purposes of the Calendar the people should probably be in a local setting that clearly signifies the setting is ‘Hedon’.

So – get your photos sent into the Town Clerk by e-mail (a good idea to mark the message subject as ‘Photo Competition’) to townclerk@hedon.gov.uk by 30th June 2014 – and whatever you photograph – HAPPY SNAPPING!

Leave a comment. You need to leave your FULL NAME.
