HEDON MUSEUM will be staging a special commemorative exhibition in the summer of 2014 of the Great War of 1914-18. The exhibition will focus on the impacts of the war on Hedon and South Holderness and will highlight the participation and sacrifice of local men serving overseas and in home defence.
Additionally, the displays will explore the role of local civilians in the war and examine the changes in everyday life as a result of the conflict.
The World War One exhibition will open to the public at 11:30am on Saturday 26th July and run each Saturday and Wednesday until Saturday 30th August 2014
An informative booklet will be available on sale at the Museum to accompany the exhibition, and in association with the Hedon Town Council, the Hedon Museum Society has arranged for two lectures to be given on The Western Front. Tickets (£2) for each lecture will be sold in advance from June 2014 in aid of the Mayor’s Charity Funds. The Lectures will take place on Monday 28th July and Wednesday 13th August 2014, both at Hedon Town Hall starting at 7:30pm.
