FOR THE FIFTH YEAR running The Station is running its Christmas Carol Singing night.

Hedon pub Carol Singers
Pub Carol Singers – join in!

The ‘Hedon Carol Singers’ do this once a year at Christmas – the group of regulars who don’t normally sing come together, hand out song-sheets and encourage people to join in with a good-old-fashioned carols sing-a-long!

It’s really an amazing night, when even the most shy and reserved of customers seem to get caught up in the Christmas atmosphere and end up singing out with gusto!

Beryl from the Carol Singers explained last year that they are prompted to do the community carol concert at The Station by the passing of one of their friends Norman from cancer. Norm’s flat-cap is still used for the traditional charity collection – £127 was collected in loose change for the Dove House Hospice appeal last year.

This is really a wonderful evening – perhaps reminiscent of community pubs in years gone by – but quite bizarre by modern standards.
